Accor extends its deepest condolences to the people of Japan

Accor operates nine hotels throughout Japan and advises that only minor damage has been inflicted on the buildings as a result of last week’s devastating earthquake. All hotels are operational and have been focused on accommodating guests and employees that were unable to depart due to significant transport disruptions and ongoing limitations.

The three hotels that Accor operates in the Greater Tokyo area have been closed to new reservations since the earthquake struck last Friday. The hotels have remained operational throughout and two of which are anticipated to recommence accepting reservations on Wednesday of this week (March 16, 2011), subject to further updates.

The hotels in the Greater Tokyo area include:

  • Mercure Hotel Tokyo Ginza
  • Mercure Hotel Narita
  • Mercure Hotel Yokosuka

Mercure Hotel Narita whilst operational, continues to be impacted by the national rolling power blackouts for a few scheduled hours each day. This hotel will recommence accepting new reservations once more clarity of this situation is established.

Other hotels operated by Accor in Japan continue to trade without restriction, include:

  • Sofitel The Cypress Nagoya
  • Novotel Osaka West Koshien
  • Novotel Sapporo
  • Mercure Hotel Sapporo
  • Hotel Formule1 Numazu
  • Hotel Formule1 Isesaki

Continued disruption is being experienced to transport domestically as well as for international arrivals and departures. Anyone travelling to Japan is advised to check with their airline as well as advisories from relevant agencies. Any customers with reservations for Accor hotels in Japan are advised to contact their local Accor Call Centre for updates – cancellation fees are currently being waived.
