A dedicated platform to leverage Thai spa industry

With the aim to enhance local operators’ strengths and competitive advantages for the upcoming establishment of the ASEAN Economic Community in 2015, Thai Spa Association is joining forces with IMPACT Exhibition Management Co., Ltd. to host World Spa & Well-being Convention 2012, a convention featuring a wide-ranging of business resources for the spa and well-being industries covering spa operators, spa education centers, spa product suppliers, architects & interior designers, spa consultants and many more. Running together with the trade exhibition is a must attend congresses and seminars to provide exhibitors and business leaders a myriad of opportunities to build business connections, network and be inspired by an innovative. World Spa & Well-being Convention 2012 will be staged during 19 – 20 September 2012 for trade visitors and 21 September 2012 as a public day at Hall 4, IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center, Bangkok, Thailand.

On March 28, 2012, Thai Spa Association hosted the official press conference of WSWC 2012 welcomed by Mr. Andrew Jacka, the president of Thai Spa Association at 6AB Function Room, Siam @ Siam Design Hotel & Spa, Bangkok. There are a huge number of leading spa providers and suppliers confirmed to exhibit at WSWC 2012 including I Plus Q, Chiva Som, St. Carlos Medical Spa, Parutee, Simply Samui, Nail Techniques International and many more.

Mr. Andrew Jacka, president of Thai Spa Association said that “The spa is a significant economics’ contributor of many Asian countries as well as Thailand. In 2011, Thai spa market experienced a positive growth rate and continues to expand. The establishment of AEC would make business operators confront much greater challenges. Local entrepreneurs would require getting prepared and bolstering their strengths and make Thailand to be Asia’s spa service hub. With the theme of ‘Education, Standards and Innovative’, World Spa & Well-being Convention 2012 is a dedicated platform for spa and well-being industry which expected to set new standards and helping to drive the industry forward to new levels across the region on the approaching AEC.”

The main highlight of the press conference was the discussion about the growth of spa industry both local and international by Mr. Barry Warrington, Mr. Tetsuo Shibata and Dr. Manish Patwardhan.

Mr. Barry Warrington, director of Asia Pacific & Wellness Coalition (APSWC) added that “Thai spa industry is a strong and outstanding industry with a great involvement from government including; Tourism Authority of Thailand, Ministry of Education. Thailand has distinguished the country to be exceptionally well known and popular destination in term of the spa industry, I suggest that other countries should look at Thailand for a direction, I would also love to encourage all the members to get involved, as there are only a few trade exhibition dedicated to the spa industry”.

Mr. Tetsuo Shibata, director of Trade Cooperation Department, The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) stated that “Thai spa industry is very interesting industry. JETRO has a policy to support any companies related to the spa industry in Thailand which could be a good opportunity for Japanese investors to invest on spa business plus build a relationship to establish strength between two countries”. He also sees big potential for Thai Spa in get a great number of customers from Japan, as they are seeking for a good spa to visit.

Dr. Manish Patwardhan, president of Indian Spa & Wellness Association said that anybody who wants to set up a spa always looks at Thailand and sees Thailand as the spa capital of the world. “I believe that Thailand can be a center of spa’s education and standard. We are looking forward to promoting this event across India in order to establish more knowledge for the spa business in India.”

Co-located with Pool&SpaTech Asia 2012, the event takes a multi-faceted approach with 3-day exhibition and two 1 day must attend congresses and seminars to provide exhibitors and business leaders a myriad of opportunities to network, build business connections and be inspired by an innovative.
