61 organisations crowned as China’s best of the best at 9th Annual TTG China Travel Awards

The TTG China Travel Awards is a TTG Travel Trade Publishing Event organised by TTG China, held yearly in Shanghai, in conjunction with The Leading International MICE Event in China, IT&CM China and The Leading Corporate Travel Management Conference For China, CTW China.

Back for its 9th edition, TTG China Travel Awards 2016 culminates on this night to celebrate the stellar achievements of 61 winners who are the crème de la crème of the Greater China travel trade industry.

Surpassing their peers, 23 new winners debuted among the elite ranks of Greater China’s travel trade industry, taking home the signature Hermes trophy home for the first time. They include organisations like Hyatt Hotels and Resorts, and Wanda Hotels and Resorts that have successfully claimed the “Best Global Hotel Chain” and “Best Local Hotel Chain Operating in Greater China” titles respectively – awards that were previously dominated by long-time defenders.

This year, the roll call of debuting winners was most evident in hotel categories. The popular “Best Hotel Within The Regions of China” category which was further segmented into 2 new award categories – “Best Business Hotel” (6 awards) and “Best City Hotel” (6 awards) – this year to better reflect market, location and brand positioning, were monopolised by first-timer winners who bagged 10 out of the 12 awards.

In addition, a new award, “Best Innovative Operator” was added, with debuting winner Costa Cruises, taking home this inaugural title.

With their relentless pursuit of excellence, 9 winners made their remarkable comeback into the awards. Among them are Emirates Airlines and Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, reclaiming their titles as “Best Middle Eastern Airline” and “Best Luxury Hotel Brand” in Greater China respectively. Kerry Hotel Pudong, Shanghai and Grand Hyatt Macau also returned to the awards with new titles under their belts as “Best Meetings & Conventions Hotel in Shanghai” and “Best Meetings & Conventions Hotel in Macau”.

While new winners and returning winners made their way into the awards, veteran organisations like Singapore Airlines (Best Asian Airline), Chimelong Hotel Guangzhou (Best Theme Hotel), China International Travel Service (Best Travel Agency in China) and Shanghai (Best BT-mice City in China) held firmly to their titles for at least 5 consecutive years, showing the industry what it takes to be leaders of the pack, constantly raising the bar of excellence for its peers and industry.
