SHANGHAI – Running into its auspicious 8th year, TTG China Travel Awards 2015 culminated on April 16 in celebration of the 59 winners who represent the best and brightest in the Greater China travel trade industry.
Surpassing their peers and industry standards, 26 winners took home the signature Hermes trophy for the first time. Debuting as the best in the Greater China travel trade industry, the roll-call of inaugural winners were most evident across the Airline Awards, Individual Hotel Awards (in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Macau), Hotel Awards in Other Regions in China and the Resort Hotel Awards. New winners like China Eastern Airlines and Sheraton Macao Hotel, Cotai have successfully claimed titles that were dominated by long-time winners, taking home the honor of Best China Airlines and Best Meetings and Conventions Hotel in Macau respectively.
8 of 59 winning organisations were also in the limelight for their remarkable comebacks into the awards. Among them were The Ritz-Carlton, returning to claim Best Luxury Hotel Brand in Greater China, and Chengdu, regaining its hold as the Best City in China (Leisure Travel). Other returning winners included The St. Regis Shenzhen (Best Luxury Hotel in Shenzhen), Courtyard by Marriott Shanghai Xujiahui (Best Mid-range Hotel in Shanghai), The Westin Beijing Financial Street (Best Meetings and Conventions Hotel in Beijing), The Astor Hotel, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Tianjin (Best Hotel in North China) Intercontinental Century City Chengdu (Best Hotel in Southwest China) and Mandarin Oriental, Sanya (Best Spa Resort in China).
While first-time and returning winners make their way into the ranks of the TTG China Travel Awards, 5 veteran destinations and organisations – Shanghai, Singapore Airlines, Ascott China, Holiday Inn Macau and The Garden Hotel Guangzhou defended their titles with consecutive wins since the inauguration of TTG China Travel Awards in 2008. Despite new winners in almost all award categories, only the Hotel Chain Awards category saw a return of all recipients to their respective awards.
“It is no easy task to stay relevant in this intense and competitive industry, especially in the Greater China region. We applaud our winners for raising the benchmark of industry excellence with their relentless pursuit of consumer satisfaction and acknowledgement, their innovation and revamp that make our industry an ever-interesting one.”
