Singapore aims to build on its strong reputation as a preferred holiday destination for Kuwaiti travelers with a special workshop for travel agents and holiday companies this month. In 2006, Singapore received more than 82,000 visitors from the Middle East, breaking previous records. Visitor arrivals increased by more than 10,000 – growth of about 16 percent – compared to 2005.

A group of executives representing Singapore Tourism Board and Singapore Airlines will be visiting Kuwait to build stronger relations with the local travel industry.

“There are many reasons why Singapore is becoming a ‘must-visit’ destination for Kuwaiti visitors,” said Kei-Wei Peh, Area Director, Middle East and Africa, Singapore Tourism Board.

“In addition to the outstanding hotels and first-rate shopping opportunities, travelers from Kuwait are growing more interested in the readily-available family attractions and exclusive events on offer,” he added.

Popular attractions include shopping on the famous Orchard Road or family trips to the Night Zoo. A major attraction that runs from the 9-28 April 2007 is the World Gourmet Summit, which will be a one-of-a-kind event bringing in the world of culinary expertise.

“The World Gourmet Summit will transform Singapore into a ‘gastro-tourism’ capital, where internationally-renowned master chefs will unveil their secrets and expert advice,” added Peh.

With all the events and attractions on offer, Singapore will be hoping to increase the number of visitors from Kuwait in the coming months.
