The Singapore Tourism Board has announced that its `flash estimate` for July 2003 visitor arrivals is 512,500. On a seasonally adjusted basis, this represents an increase of 43% compared to June 2003.

This estimated increase includes strong percentage increases in visitors from all key markets, in particular, South Korea (137%), Thailand (108%) and the UK (92%) which are expected to register significant percentage increases.

Flash Estimates for July 03

In terms of absolute change, overall Singapore visitor arrivals in July 2003, on a seasonally adjusted basis, are estimated to increase by about 142,700 pax compared to June 2003. The largest increase in actual visitors is expected to come from Indonesia, with almost 26,300 more visitors in July than June on a seasonally adjusted basis.

Singapore`s Visitor Arrivals Performance for 1-15 July 2003

Compared to the same period a year ago, in the period of 1-15 July, visitor arrivals were running at 25% below the level of a year ago, or a shortfall of 84,700 pax. The level of shortfall in the period of 8-15 July was less than that in 1-7 July.( Thailand, Philippines and Hong Kong SAR exhibited positive growth in the first two weeks of July on a year on year basis.
