Miss Tourism Queen of the Year International Tour lands in Huangling

58 contestants from national wide took part in a whirlwind of activities that highlighted the rich heritage of the village, putting glamour and high fashion alongside traditional rural architecture and unique views of shaiqiu.

HUANGLING, China – Huangling, China’s most beautiful countryside village, hosted the 2017 Miss Tourism Queen of the Year International Tour as part of the pageant’s journey to the most beautiful and significant cultural sites in China. 58 contestants from national wide took part in a whirlwind of activities that highlighted the rich heritage of the village, putting glamour and high fashion alongside traditional rural architecture and unique views of shaiqiu.

At the event “International Fashion Meets Cultural Nostalgia in Huangling“, contestants completed an image of shaiqiu, which is seen when harvested vegetables, such as chili peppers and pumpkin slices, are laid out on the roofs of the town’s quaint Hui-style architectures. This gave the ancient village a vibrant, colorful look.

We are proud to host the charming ladies from the 2017 Miss Tourism Queen of the Year International pageant,” said Wu Xiangyang, CEO of Wuyuan Rural Culture Development Co., Ltd. “The tour’s visit is a validation of the work we’ve done to make Huangling village stand out.  Hopefully, we can further introduce Huangling to the world.”

As part of the cultural experience tour in Huangling, the ladies learned about Wuyuan wedding traditions, visited an ancient oil pressing workshop and tasted local snacks with chrysanthemum tea. They also participated in a costume parade and fashion show that transformed the 300-meter ancient Tianjie Street into a runway that blended international fashion and local Chinese culture.

Huangling is committed to introducing the Chinese folk customs to the world. The village has attended a series of promotional events as part of The Tea Road (China) Cooperative (TRC) to introduce the village’s unique cultural heritage to Russia, Sweden and Denmark. Huangling also earned the “Sino-foreign Most Beautiful Shooting Location” honor at 74th Venice International Film Festival.
