Red Planet Indonesia delivering on strategic expansion plans – Surabaya Hotel now open

The 156-room Tune Hotel Surabaya opened this week taking the company's operating hotel room count to 1,063 with six other Tune Hotels in Pasar Baru , Pekanbaru, Solo, Bekasi, Palembang and Makassar.

JAKARTA, Indonesia – IDX-listed PT Red Planet Indonesia Tbk (PSKT) – owner and operator of the expanding Tune Hotels portfolio in Indonesia – has just opened its seventh hotel in the country with announcements for more properties pending immediately.

The 156-room Tune Hotel Surabaya opened this week taking the company’s operating hotel room count to 1,063 with six other Tune Hotels in Pasar Baru (166 rooms), Pekanbaru (140), Solo (153), Bekasi (157), Palembang (147) and Makassar with 144 rooms.

Importantly, growth plans for PT Red Planet Indonesia Tbk do not cease there. Final negotiations relating to a minimum of four more sites in the Greater Jakarta region are in advanced stages with formal announcements expected in the coming weeks.

These four sites form a major facet of a longer-term expansion plan to announce a minimum of 20 more hotels in the next 24 months by PT Red Planet Indonesia Tbk.

Tune Hotels is the value-for-money hotel chain launched by visionary Malaysian businessman Tony Fernandes to accompany his hugely successful and multi-award winning low-cost airline, Air Asia.

PT Red Planet Indonesia Tbk President Director, Suwito, said the company was fully committed to the hotel and travel industry in Indonesia with the Tune Hotel brand making domestic and international travel much more affordable and accessible across the country.

We are of the firm belief that the value-for-money, or budget, hotel sector in Indonesia has the scope for the most growth with rising domestic demand fuelling this expansion,” Mr Suwito said.
Our in-depth research strongly indicates this segment is also the most resilient sector of the hotel market in Indonesia and will remain profitable through the normal ebbs and flows of an emerging economy.”

Tune Hotels is without a doubt the most iconic value-for-money brand in the region and we look forward to building on the international success the brand has had.”

The Tune Hotels brand now operates 43 hotels in nine countries (Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, Japan, India, Australia, England, and Scotland) and has won many awards for providing quality accommodation and services. It boasts ambitious plans for further global expansion.
