For Singaporeans, a number of nearby destination’s exchange rates are currently at optimum levels against the SGD.
SINGAPORE - Wego.com, the leading travel search site in the Asia Pacific and Middle East, reveals the best destinations for Singaporeans to travel to right now to take full advantage of recent currency fluctuations.
“The movement in currency values against the US dollar means there’s never been a better time for Singaporeans to book flights and take a trip,” said Joachim Holte, Chief Marketing Officer of Wego. “There are so many destinations so close to Singapore where you can save a great deal of money, thanks to fantastically favourable exchange rates. We should all be jumping on a plane!”
For Singaporeans, a number of nearby destination’s exchange rates are currently at optimum levels against the SGD. In Malaysia 1 SGD will today buy you over 3 MYR, and after a dip earlier in the year, the Thai Baht has reached over 25 THB per SGD, returning to levels not seen since June last year.
“Thailand is great value at the best of times, but right now the Thai Baht is making a Bangkok weekend or Andaman Coast holiday, extremely attractive,” Holte said. “Malaysia has never offered better value for the Singapore dollar, currently at an all time high so a trip to the beautiful island of Langkawi, the lush Genting Highlands or feasting in Penang are all great options.”
“It’s also a perfect time to head to Bali before the wet season hits, with the IDR reaching a record low against the SGD, floating around 10,000 IDR,” added Holte.
“We are lucky to be living in a city in such close proximity to Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia which are all supported by a variety of low-cost airline connections. Along with the current levels of exchange rates, the time to travel is now.”
A little further afield, Australia which is becoming increasingly popular with Singaporean travellers, is also on the exchange rate hitlist valued at around one for one.
“At Wego we continue to see the increasing popularity of destination Australia with Singaporeans, who are travelling beyond the capital cities and becoming more adventurous. They seek more of the country’s natural beauty experiences, which include coastal, rainforest and inland trekking, along with outstanding food and wine holidays,
” Holte continued. “It definitely should be on your travel list with the Australian dollar currently the best value for the SGD since 2008.
