Vietnam to welcome international tourists from March 15, 2022

Travellers who wish to visit the country will be allowed to enter without quarantine and travel freely throughout the entire country.

Rediscover Vietnam’s timeless charm as it officially reopens to international travellers from March 15, 2022. Travellers who wish to visit the country will be allowed to enter without quarantine and travel freely throughout the entire country with the following conditions:

For foreign visitors arriving in Vietnam:

  • All foreign visitors aged 12 and over must receive at least two doses of Covid-19 vaccine with the second dose injected at least 14 days and no more than 6 months, or have a certificate of Covid-19 recovery issued by a competent authority within 6 months and recognized by Vietnam.
  • Foreign tourists arriving by air must have a certificate of a negative SARS-CoV-2 test result by RT-PCR technique issued within 72 hours before entry or 24 hours for the rapid test (except child under 2 years).

Foreign tourists arriving by sea/land must have a certificate of a negative SARS-CoV test result 24 hours for rapid test (except child under 2 yrs).

  • Foreign visitors arriving in the country by air would self-isolate in their hotel or accommodation facility for one day until they furnish a negative Covid-19 test result.
  • Foreign visitors need to have medical insurance cover for Covid-19 treatment worth at least US $10,000.
  • Ensure the immigration conditions as Vietnam Immigration Rule.
  • When entering Vietnam, they must install and use the health declaration application (PC-COVID) to make health declarations and monitor their health in accordance with local regulations.

Procedures for effective control of the COVID-19 pandemic after arrival:

  • Foreign visitors with suspected signs will be requested to take rapid COVID-19 tests after arriving in Vietnam.
  • Foreign visitors arriving in the country would go straight to their hotel and self-isolate in their accommodation for 24 hours.
  • Foreign visitors arriving by air have a rapid test within 24 hours at their accommodation. In case of a negative result, they can continue their schedule. In case of a positive result, the company/accommodation establishment will be responsible for working with health facilities and local authorities on quarantine and treatment for visitors.
  • Foreign visitors self-monitor their health within 14 days from the date of entry in accordance with local regulations and instructions of service suppliers.
  • Services suppliers should have procedures to ensure the safety and effective control of pandemics, having supporting visitors, and arranging quarantine accommodation.
