PATA forges new accord with Japan Chapter

PATA is forging new relationships with the travel and tourism industry in Japan and strengthening its existing relationship with Chapter members. The Association’s Asia Regional Director Shahram Saber has kick-started the new accord with a presentation to the Japan Chapter’s annual meeting. With the industry facing unprecedented challenges from the global economic downturn, Shahram shared ideas with Chapter members on how the industry may best cope with the financial crisis…

PATA is forging new relationships with the travel and tourism industry in Japan and strengthening its existing relationship with Chapter members. The Association’s Asia Regional Director Shahram Saber has kick-started the new accord with a presentation to the Japan Chapter’s annual meeting. With the industry facing unprecedented challenges from the global economic downturn, Shahram shared ideas with Chapter members on how the industry may best cope with the financial crisis.

“The presentation was well received and the Chapter members in Japan are extremely pleased with the support offered by PATA. We’re looking at several opportunities where we can work together, such as sharing case studies and best practice, to enable the industry in Japan to overcome these difficulties,” says Shahram.

“I was also very pleased to meet a number of influential industry stakeholders during my visit to Tokyo, including Mr. Ryuji Funayama, Chairman -Tourism Industry Association of Japan (TIAJ); Mr. Tadatoshi Mamiya, President -JNTO; Mr. Hiromichi Itaya, Executive Vice President -JNTO; Mr. Kaneyuki Ono, Director, Corporate Planning -JNTO; Mr. Toshihiko Tadokoro – Vice President for Tourism Promotion, International Sales Planning and Marketing -JAL; Mr Hideaki Noguchi, President & CEO of Global Marketing & Travel -JTB; Mr. Kosuke Shibata, President of JATA; Mr. Masatsugu Nishiyori, Vice President, Marketing & Sales -ANA and Ms. Takako Koseki, Secretary -PATA Japan Chapter,” he adds.

Mr Nobutaka Ishikure – Chief Industry Affairs Officer, JAL and Chairman of the PATA Chapter in Japan, says, “We are certainly struggling in this current crisis but I believe that we can work together to make these challenges into opportunities. PATA’s continued guidance and cooperation will be much appreciated.”
