Research out today from Barclaycard Business reveals that nearly one in ten business travellers do not know whether they are covered by travel insurance when travelling on business.
According to figures from the ninth annual Barclaycard Business Travel Survey, 64% of business travellers have travel insurance organised by their employer or designated supplier, 24% organise it themselves and 9% do not know whether they are covered or not.
The figures show that employees are more likely to organise their own travel insurance if they work for a company with a low turnover. For example, 47% of employees that work for companies with a turnover of £250,000 or less organise insurance personally, as do 30% of employees in companies with a turnover of £1 to £5 million. This is in comparison to only 6% that work for companies with a turnover of over £100m.
The findings also show that employees in larger companies are more likely to rely on their employer or designated supplier to organise travel insurance:
