Vietnam’s low cost carrier VietJetAir expands its network

VietJetAir is adding new routes to its network and will launch its first international flight to Bangkok this coming December.

HANOI- Private budget carrier VietJetAir will begin flying new domestic routes from both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City from the end of this year. To mark the event, the carrier recently launched a special promotion with tickets sold from only 0.50 US$ on all routes.

From Ho Chi Minh City it will begin flying to Vinh on November 15, to Hue on November 22, and finally to Phu Quoc on December 20. A new Hanoi – Dalat service is also due to start on December 7. VietJetAir announced to launch its first regional service to Bangkok on December 14 and will add again four more domestic routes.

Since October, the airline launched new routes such as Ho Chi Minh City-Haiphong but also increased frequencies on its domestic network. It doubled the number of daily flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Nha Trang as well as between Hanoi and Danang. Both routes are now served twice daily while a third daily frequency has been launched between Ho Chi Minh City and Danang route from two to three daily.

VietJetAir began flying last December. It operates three new Airbus A320, but has recently still suffered many delays due to technical error. On September 13 a n angry customers’ mob even forced the airline’s management to buy nearly 100 tickets from competitor Jetstar Pacific after a flight was delayed due to maintenance. The carrier however plans to double its fleet by year end with the reception of three new Airbus A320. New aircraft will help to further boost the carrier’s network, especially on regional routes.
