Incidents that occured recently in Nepal didn`t harm the tourism of the country as the tourism industry remained immune of the sequence of incidents that take place nationally or internationally. The incident of firing that took place in the Kathmandu Valley remained confined within the particular area only. Though the incident happened at the entrance of highway, it has not disturbed the flow of traffic to Kathmandu. A few such incidents occurred in the past but had little impact on the lives of people in the Kathmandu Valley. Tourism entrepreneurs have not taken it as a threat to their business.

In the course of ten years of insurgency neither a single tourist has been targeted intentionally nor has been harmed so we don`t need to be panicked at the moment, said Binay Basnet, Managing Director of Kathmandu based Koshi Tours and Travel. As per the information provided by concerned authority, all vehicles are operating normally to Pokhara, Chitwan and Lumbini from Kathmandu. All international airlines have landed at Tribhuvan International Airport on time and there is a good volume of passengers` traffic both ways.

Responding the query about the safety and security in Nepal, Mr. David Fauler from the UK who recently made biking trip around the Kathmandu Valley said he didn`t feel any difference in the movement of tourists after the incident.

I have not changed my schedule itinerary to travel outside Kathmandu because I have found Nepal safe enough to travel anywhere, said Faulker. Another tourist Mr. Dylan Roux from Australia said that he has not encountered any kind of problem in Kathmandu and felt completely safe and secure in Nepal. I enjoyed every bit of Kathmandu, and I am least bothered about the political situation in Nepal as it happens everywhere in the world, he added.

To effectively respond the problems tourists and tourism entrepreneurs in Nepal and abroad may come across, Nepal Tourism Board has taken a holistic approach to address these problems by running its Media Center 24 hours which is manned by efficient staff. The Center is supported by Crisis Response Action Unit already established to facilitate the tourists. In order to better facilitate tourists, the Tourism Crisis Response Action Unit at Nepal Tourism Board responds to the queries and facilitates or takes necessary initiatives. This operation has been supported by Media Center of Nepal Tourism Board.
