A group of delegates from Tonga has travelled to New Zealand to conduct promotional road shows with the aim to retain consumers as well as Travel Operators and Travel Consultants’ confidence in Tonga as a desirable tourist destination. The group led by Acting Director, Sione Moala-Mafi includes representatives from the tourism industries as well as the airlines and travel agents. They are expected to be in New Zealand till the 23rd of this month.

While in New Zealand, they are expected to conduct seminars with tour operators and travel agents. Seminars with the travel agents and tour consultants would kick off at the Spencer on Byron Hotel, North Shore. The group will then continue on to Wellington and Christchurch before returning to Auckland for a final seminar.

To maximize exposure and further promote the VFR market in New Zealand, the Ministry of Tourism has organised meetings with the Tongan Community to promote special events and the importance of tourism to Tonga. The Ministry of Tourism is appreciative with Air New Zealand’s assistance and support towards this promotional campaign.

The Government of Tonga has given its support to the Ministry of Tourism to embark on immediate and urgent marketing campaign to visits its major markets of Australia, New Zealand and the United States of America. This gesture of government has been positively received by the Ministry.
