The first cross sector educational programme in Cyprus

A press conference was held yesterday at the Hilton Park Hotel presenting to the Media and to the Professional Tourist Associations the first cross sector educational programme titled “Tourist Attendant Certification”.

The programme was created by Avantless Ltd and Elpis Tourism & Hospitality Seminars with the support and certification of OEB.

During the presentation this initiative was strongly applauded by the two Hotel Associations, PASYXE and STEK, by the Association of Cypriot Travel Agents (ACTA), by the European Consumer Centre Cyprus as well as by Hermes Airports and Cyprus Tourism Organisation.

Both CTO and the Professional Associations mentioned the need for training of all the people who come into contact with the end consumer – customer, so as to upgrade the level of information given, the level of service and quality offered.

The Tourist Attendant Certification aims in giving first line employees all the necessary background in order to develop tourist consciousness and apply on their daily work routine those practises which will create positive experiences to the end consumer – customer, who today, is more social than ever an perceives tourism as a social need which is satisfied only with nice experiences.

The socialization of the customer has today been transferred to the internet through the big social networks and on this training the use of new technologies will be emphasized.

The seminars begin on November and are subsidised by the Human Resource Development Authority. The seminars will be conducted in Greek and English on all the towns and are addressed to Cypriots as well as foreign employees who come into direct contact with customers.
