Milan is THAI`s 61st destination, and the carrier will be the first Asian airline to offer a direct connection from Milan to Southeast Asia. On May 4 2004, THAI began its flight operations between Bangkok – Milan, utilizing MD11 aircraft, as follows: Bangkok – Milan v.v. (every Tuesday and Friday):

  • TG940 Departs Bangkok 00.40hrs. Arrives Milan 07.20hrs.
  • TG941 Departs Milan 14.30hrs. Arrives Bangkok 06.10hrs. (following day)

    THAI said it estimates a cabin factor of 75% with passengers comprising both tourists and businessmen in the design and fashion industry from Japan, Australia and Thailand.

    Milan is located in the north of Italy, near Venice, Turin, Florence and near the border of Switzerland. Italian tourists ranked 7th in the number of arrivals from Europe to Thailand in the year 2002-2003. Among these, 40% are from northern Italy, one of Europe`s best source of tourism.

    During May, on the Milan-Bangkok flight, THAI is inviting Italian chefs to create special dishes for Royal First and Royal Executive Class passengers. Royal Orchid Plus members will also benefit, with Royal First Class passengers gaining 3,000 bonus mileage points, Royal Executive Class passengers 2,000 bonus mileage points, and Economy Class passengers 1,000 bonus mileage points between 4 May – 31 July 2004.

    Milan, one of the leading fashion centres of the world, covers an area of 1,980 sq. kms, with a population of 1.3 million people. Among the leading tourist attractions are Milan`s Duomo, the fourth largest cathedral in the world, and Leonardo da Vinci`s painting The Last Supper. It is served by Malpensa International Airport and Linate Domestic Airport.
