Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), ASEAN, South Asia and South Pacific announce the launch of the Family Fun in Amazing Thailand 2018 project, which has been ongoing since 2017, to promote Thailand’s image as a destination for family tourism, focusing on the ASEAN, South Asian and South Pacific tourist groups.

In the opening event of Family Fun in Amazing Thailand, Thai celebrities, bloggers and travel companies compete with each other while learning lifestyle of the community, and testing the tourism products. The trips are divided into 4 routes based in 8 provinces as follows: Chiang Mai – Mae Hong Son, Samut Songkhram – Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon – Ranong and Phuket – Krabi. The activities of each route will be recorded to publicize in the market and social media to raise the awareness. There are also activities, workshops and business negotiations in each route for brainstorming.

In the year 2017, there were about 1,737,567 family tourism tourists who visited Thailand (Jan – Sep 2017), equivalent to a YOY increase of 14.19%. The family tourism is a potential market and is growing rapidly. Most of the time, the school holidays in the ASEAN region will be in line with the Green Season of Thailand. Therefore, it is a good opportunity for Thailand to have tourists from ASEAN at that time.
