Skyscanner in international expansion

Edinburgh based travel search site Skyscanner is ramping up its drive into international markets with the addition of a new team of market managers for the USA, Canada, Ireland, Russia and Scandinavia, which join the existing UK, Spanish and German teams. This follows on from the announcement last week that, according to the Deloitte Fast 50 index, Skyscanner is the 3rd fastest growing technology company in Scotland and the 31st in the UK overall.

To accommodate the growing team, Skyscanner has had to relocate its headquarters from Leith to the prestigious Stamp Office building in central Edinburgh, which will open on the 2nd November 2009.

With dedicated websites for 24 countries and the choice of 20 languages, 65% of Skyscanner’s traffic already comes from outside of the UK. The company will be pushing hard throughout 2010 to increase its presence in key international markets and build its position as a leading global travel site.

Gareth Williams Skyscanner CEO commented: “Skyscanner is growing in all areas: user traffic, revenue and staff.  We’ve finally outgrown our current office in the Bourse Business Centre in Leith which has done a brilliant job in housing us through the last four years – which have been a very hectic time in the company’s development – but now we need more space to allow us to continue our growth as we move into new key markets and build on the Skyscanner brand as the first stop for independent travellers around the world.”

Skyscanner has released several new website domains during 2009, increasing its presence in key international markets.
