Singapore hotel prices rise 98% for F1 weekend

Only 28% hotel rooms were available as of this release, signaling high booking rate during the Singapore GP weekend.

SINGAPORE – The Singapore Grand Prix night race happening this weekend (20 – 22 September 2013) saw almost a near doubling of average hotel prices week-on-week. Twenty-eight percent of hotel rooms were available for booking as of one day before the practice session on Friday, September 20. These were the findings reported by trivago.sg for the mega event.

One night in Singapore during the F1 weekend (20 – 22 September 2013) cost visitors an average of $381, a 90% increase from the same period the week before. The cheapest night to book during the event was on Saturday, 21 September, when travelers would pay $368 on average for a room in the city-state. In comparison, the most expensive night was on Friday, 20 September, where average prices rose to a steep $404, up 98% from the previous Friday (September 13). There was only a 50% increase of average hotel prices week-on-week for the 2012 Singapore Grand Prix (GP) weekend.
