Savoy Resort & Spa welcoming Chinese tourists to Seychelles ‘paradise’ with launch of direct flights

Garden of Eden archipelago in Indian Ocean is hot new dream destination.

BEIJING – Sophisticated new Seychelles luxury resort Savoy Resort & Spa is rolling out the red carpet to Chinese tourists with the launch of flights via Hong Kong in 2014. Chinese tourists are newly discovering the paradise Indian Ocean archipelago, with visitor numbers doubling annually for the past two years.

With visa-free entry, visitors from China are now expected in greater numbers with Air Seychelles launching three return flights a week to Hong Kong in February.

Setting a new luxury benchmark that helped earn Seychelles the award of Luxury Island Holiday Destination of the Year from Chinese travel insiders, the new 5-star Savoy Resort & Spa is poised to become one of their most popular resorts.

“It is now easier and more convenient than ever for Chinese guests to visit our island paradise and we are looking forward to welcoming guests from Greater China to enjoy the captivating delights of Seychelles in a world-class luxury setting,” says Acting General Manager Derek Barbe.

Savoy Resort & Spa overlooks the beautiful whites of Beau Vallon Beach on the main island of Mahe, with 163 deluxe guestrooms and suites, each with a private terrace overlooking the ocean or tropical landscaped gardens.

Luxury amenities and cutting-edge technology including Wi-Fi throughout even includes flat screen TVs with Chinese satellite channels.

Savoy Spa offers traditional aromatherapy, therapeutic massages and rejuvenation treatments, and the resort’s magnificent 700 sqm outdoor swimming pool is the largest in Seychelles.

Leisure facilities extend to tennis, a state of the art fitness centre with the latest Matrix equipment, yoga and Pilates studios, a Russian-style sauna and watersports – with golf, diving, hiking, Ziplining, museums and shopping a short drive from the resort.

Exquisite Creole, Asian and European cuisine is served in three dining venues – Grand Savoy restaurant, pool-side Pescado and oceanfront Gecko Bar – blessed with abundant fresh local seafood and home-grown herbs, fruit and vegetables from the resort’s own garden.

All-day restaurant Grand Savoy presents premium local and international cuisine using only freshest of ingredients, rotating food concepts daily to embrace various global cuisines from Europe and the Middle East to Asia.

Signature restaurant Pescado headed by Michelin starred Chef Gennaro Avagnale, focuses on freshly caught seafood and flavourful ‘West meets East’ cuisine using ingredients from all over the world, with an Italian touch. An extensive wine list is hand-picked to complement the seafood experience, with exotic drinks extending to cocktails aged in French oak barrels, homemade digestives, vodka infused martinis and signature cocktails using fresh herbs and spices.

Vibrant beach venue Gecko Bar is popular for refreshing tropical smoothies, blended specialty drinks, infused rums and Savoy’s homemade Sangrias – and at sunset transforms into the “Place To Be and Be Seen” with beats from some of the best musicians on the island.

Families with children also benefit from a professionally supervised Kids’ Club, offering engaging activities for youngsters aged 4-12, plus a Virtual Zone games room for teenagers.

Destination weddings, as well as conferences and special events, are also a speciality of the resort, with state-of-the-art function venues catering for up to 250 guests.

Air Seychelles’ three weekly flights launched between Mahe and Hong Kong in February briefly stopover for refueling in Abu Dhabi, with passengers remaining on the aircraft. Air Seychelles is 40 percent owned by Etihad Airways.

A highly popular wedding and honeymoon destination, Seychelles offers a large variety of leisure and adventure activities. Highlights include deep-sea sport fishing for marlin and tuna, diving amidst coral reefs and giant tortoises, hiking, watersports, golf and bird watching.

A pleasant year-round climate and the rich culture and warmth of the Seychellois people add to the memorable holiday experience.

Savoy Resort & Spa is just a 25-minute drive from Seychelles International Airport and 10 minutes from the capital city, Victoria.

As a special opening offer, Savoy Resort & Spa invites bridal couples to fulfill the ultimate wedding dream of saying ‘I do’ in Seychelles. The exclusive Savoy Wedding Package includes registration and marriage certificate, a multi-tiered wedding cake, Champagne toast, decorations, flower bouquet and canapes. The bridal couple will also be treated to a candle-lit seafood dinner under the stars and a 90-minute Romantic Couple treatment at Savoy Spa.
