Pudong Shangri-La announces the opening of the Summit Room

Following the hotel’s successful launch of the Chairman’s and President’s Rooms, Pudong Shangri-La, East Shanghai announces the opening this autumn of The Summit Room, the latest addition to the hotel’s collection of versatile meeting and event room options.

SHANGHAI- Located in a prestigious area on level one of the Grand Tower, The Summit Room at Pudong Shangri-La is the ideal venue for exclusive or high-powered meetings, modern and chic dinners or events for captains of industry and for those who appreciate the finer things in life.  With an area of 360 square metres, The Summit Room is ideal for intimate and exclusive events.

Pudong Shangri-La, East Shanghai’s elite service team – an assembly of the most experienced sommelier, butlers and international culinary team – will attend to guests invited to The Summit Room.  This creates an atmosphere of personalised service within a luxurious private residence.  Event organisers will be supported by the hotel’s Events Concierge team, which will assist in managing anything from photocopying to flight bookings.

The Summit Room, which cost about RMB 6 million to renovate, has an exclusive entrance that allows for a high level of privacy.  Guests can also enter via the Grand Tower lobby.  Designed by LRF Design of the United Kingdom, The Summit Room is pillar-free and has a luxurious residential setting.  The spacious and expansive space is clearly defined by a living room, an 18-seat boardroom, an 18-seat dining hall and a built-in terrace with natural sunlight.

Marked by clarity, simplicity, symmetry and harmony, The Summit Room is lit by a full ceiling of crystal chandeliers as well as by natural sunlight.  The generous use of rosewood and luxurious marble combined with plush furnishing and fixtures enhance the feeling of exclusivity and class.

The space is framed by Chinese literati paintings.  Chen Jiang Hong’s ink wash paintings depict the Chinese botany of bamboo and lotus and anchor the hall, with one on either end.  Lu Jun’s works, on the other hand, gently leads the viewer through the space using his digital photography of ink in water, which resembles traditional landscape calligraphy.

An iPad controls all the in-room audio and visual equipment, including the state-of-the-art LCD 4000 Lumens Panasonic Projection system, mobile televisions and Vellux service buttons that ensure attentive service without impeding on privacy.

The Summit Room further strengthens Pudong Shangri-La, East Shanghai as the choice venue for events, whether for an exclusive board meeting, a high-end product launch or a large-scale conference, as well as for off-site catering events.

Since 31 October 2012, The Summit Room is available for reservations via Summit Meeting packages and Summit Dining Package.
