From 8th August (subject to regulatory approval) the Air Niugini Boeing 767 will operate weekly between Port Moresby and Hong Kong (via Manila). The airline is already in discussions with a number of British and European carriers to offer through fares from London to make the islands of Papua New Guinea easily accessible to British travellers.

Mr Wasanthan Kumarasi, Chief Executive Officer of Air Niugini said “This service into Hong Kong offers a number of excellent options for same day connections to and from Europe. The ground work has already been finalised in Hong Kong and we are looking forward to the service commencing on 08 August.”

In June 2006 a group of six UK Tour operators visited PNG with a view to planning new programmes to the islands. Head of UK Sales, Vikki Joyce said “This new service will make it easier for UK holidaymakers to experience the wonderful cultural diversity that is Papua New Guinea.”
