Shanghai is to join the Swiss route network. From April 21, SWISS customers will be able to fly to the city via Munich on a daily codeshare service operated by Lufthansa. Swiss and Lufthansa are further intensifying their collaboration on the long-haul front. From April 21 onwards, Swiss customers will be able to travel conveniently from Basel, Geneva and Zurich to Shanghai via Munich. The eastbound service leaves Munich and arrives at Shanghai`s Pudong Airport the following day.

The westbound flight departs from Shanghai and arrives in Munich the next morning. The service`s Munich departure and arrival times offer excellent connections from and to Basel, Geneva and Zurich for the smoothest of trips to and from Shanghai for Swiss-based travellers.

We are delighted at this new codeshare agreement, says Harry Hohmeister, Chief Network & Distribution Officer at Swiss. And we see it as a vital step in further developing the Chinese air travel market.

Swiss already provides an alternative means of travelling between Switzerland and Shanghai with its Zurich-Hong Kong service. Onward connections between Hong Kong and Shanghai are offered by China Eastern Airlines and Hongkong Dragon Airlines.

Graz and Krakow

Swiss will continue its present services to Graz and Krakow until the end of June. The Zurich-Graz route will see three frequencies a day operated with Embraer RJ 145 equipment, while Krakow receives one daily service on six days of the week.
