Menzies Aviation has been awarded three new contracts at Hong Kong International Airport with Asiana Airlines selecting the company as its ramp handler at Hong Kong for a term of 4 years. The contract, which commences on the 1st November 2007, provides for ramp handling services for Asiana’s two daily scheduled passenger aircraft turnarounds from Seoul Incheon together with additional ad-hoc charter flights during peak periods.

Asiana Airlines’ international routes include flights to 63 cities in 17 countries. Menzies Aviation is their chosen handler at a number of these destinations and this contract win in Hong Kong is a great extension of the company`s close global relationship with the airline.

Thai Global Airways has also chosen to award a three year ramp handling contract to Menzies Aviation. This will start in September 2007 and Menzies Aviation will provide ramp handling services to their six times weekly B727 freighter operation in to Hong Kong.

Lion Air, based in Jakarta, has been operating since 2000, and is Indonesia’s leading low cost airline. Currently flying a fleet of 37 aircraft, they are the launch customer for the B737-900ER, and have ordered 100 of the type, which will be used for their new Hong Kong services. The route will commence with 4 flights weekly to Hong Kong, rising to 8, and hopefully more in the future.

Chris Hutchinson, Director China for Menzies Aviation, said: “We are delighted to have been awarded these prestigious contracts in Hong Kong, which further demonstrates the strength in our services here. Together with other recent contract wins we are affirming our position in the market. We look forward to supporting the airlines’ growth in Hong Kong and a long and mutually beneficial relationship.”
