Maldives have been declared as the favourite long haul destination for the UK for the year 2006 by Kuoni Travel annual long haul travel report. The Maldives was followed by Thailand in second place and Egypt in third.
Commenting on the Maldives’ winning position, Sue Biggs, Managing Director, Kuoni UK says “The Maldives’ ranking as the favourite long haul destination is undoubtedly well deserved, and it is a fabulous accolade to this country that 2006 has been its best year ever. The Maldives welcomed 601,923 tourists during 2006, with Italy, United Kingdom, and Germany being the top three source markets for the year.
