Jalpak Co. Ltd., one of major tour companies in Japan, has awarded a Salt Lake local, Masa Naraoka, of Western Leisure, Inc. “the best tour guide of year” for Jalpak Worldwide. Masa Naraoka is a Japanese national, originally from Aomori, Japan. He has worked for Western Leisure for the past 10 years, since receiving his bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation from Utah State University. He regularly conducts tours to national parks in the U.S. West region, as far north as Glacier National Park in Montana to the south to Saguaro National Park in Arizona.
This distinction is well earned. Japanese travelers have very high expectations and even more so from a Japanese national. Naraoka excels in his knowledge and constantly hones his skills as a Japanese speaking tour guide. He is out of town on tours approximately 120 days each year; sometimes more than 180 days in busy years.
