Kota Kinabalu gets more international connections with Malaysia Airlines

After having pulled out of Kota Kinabalu in East Malaysia a couple of years ago, Malaysia Airlines is back with new international flights to Osaka and Perth and increased frequencies to Hong Kong.

SUBANG- Malaysia Airlines announced that effective December 2012, it is introducing full-service direct international connectivity from Kota Kinabalu to Perth and Osaka and increasing frequencies to Hong Kong.

Malaysia’s national carrier will commence a weekly service to Perth on Saturdays from 9 December 2012, and operate flights from Kota Kinabalu to Osaka starting 20 December 2012 on Mondays and Thursdays. It will also introduce two more weekly services from the capital of Sabah to Hong Kong on Wednesdays and Saturdays effective 1 December 2012.

Malaysia Airlines’ Group Chief Executive Officer, Ahmad Jauhari Yahya said, “These services are part of our ongoing commitment to boost inbound tourist arrivals to Kota Kinabalu as well as contribute towards the growth of the tourism industry in Sabah and Sarawak. We are also introducing these flights to provide better air-connectivity in support of the Visit Malaysia 2013 campaign by the Malaysian Government. These new services alone will provide an additional weekly capacity of 800 seats for direct international tourist arrivals into East Malaysia”.

The services will be operated using the 160-seater B737-800 aircraft with the new Boeing Sky Interior, providing a premium travel experience with on-demand in-flight entertainment system on every seat.

To commemorate the launch of these services, Malaysia Airlines is offering affordable all-inclusive return economy class fares. Whilst fares to Hong Kong are available for purchase with immediate effect till 31 December 2012, offers for Perth and Osaka go on sale from 18 October until 9 November 2012. The fares to Hong Kong are valid for immediate travel, while the offers for Perth and Osaka are valid for travel commencing 9 and 20 December 2012 respectively. All travel at these offers must be completed by 30 June 2013.
