Karl Lagerfeld, signature designer for Sofitel So Singapore

Housed in a landmark building with a neo-classical facade, the quirky interiors of the new Sofitel So Singapore will mix historical designs from the Napoleonic Empire era with contemporary images of Singapore and motifs of local flora and fauna.

Adding fashion star power to the brand’s expansion in Asia, Sofitel has enlisted iconic designer Karl Lagerfeld, to create the emblem for the new Sofitel So Singapore, set to open end of 2013. The emblem, which will be unveiled this spring, will symbolize the hotel’s unique So style and appear on a range of items for guest use during their stays.

The announcement of Karl Lagerfeld as signature designer created a storm of publicity and worldwide press coverage for the brand. Karl Lagerfeld’s exceptional creativity and talent will confer on the label the ultimate touch of refinement.

Sofitel So, the brand’s newest label launched in 2011, is the result of an alliance between Sofitel’s famous ‘art de vivre’ and the signature of a world-famous designer from the world of art or fashion.

Each hotel has a unique personality with trendy urban style and a strong creative theme. Monsieur Christian Lacroix lent a Baroque touch to Sofitel So Bangkok while Kenzo Takada was artistic director for Sofitel So Mauritius Bel Ombre.

The 134-room hotel is the third addition to Sofitel So’s expanding portfolio. Conceived as a global collection, the two upcoming opening Sofitel So are planned in Mumbai (2015) and Rio (2016).
