Hilton International operates five properties in locations that were affected by the earthquake and subsequent tidal wave that occurred on December 26, 2004. All five properties sustained little or no damage. They are: Trident Hilton Chennai, Hilton Colombo, Hilton Colombo Residence, Hilton Maldives Resort & Spa Rangali Island and Hilton Phuket Arcadia Resort & Spa.
All guests and team members at Trident Hilton Chennai and Hilton Maldives Resort & Spa Rangali Island are safe, while the other properties are in the final process of accounting for the whereabouts of guests and some team members who were off-property at the time. All five properties remain fully operational and open to guests.
