Horwath HTL and Burba Hotel Network, co-hosts and organizers of the annual Hotel Investment Conference Asia Pacific (HICAP), announced submissions for the 2008 Sustainable Hotel Awards are now being accepted.
The Sustainable Hotel Awards were launched at HICAP 2007 to recognize hotels (and their developers) in the Asia Pacific region demonstrating exemplary sustainable development best practices. The institution of the Awards is hoped to inspire industry wide commitment to embracing and proliferating sustainable development as standard practice in contribution to the preservation of our global and local environments and cultures.
Submissions will be judged by a specially selected panel of experts comprising:
- Professor Michael C. G. Davidson Director, Centre for Tourism, Sport and Service Innovation, Griffith Business School
- Lyndall DeMarco, Prince of Wales International Business Leaders Forum
- James Dion, Associate Director, Center for Sustainable Destinations, National Geographic Society
- Mark Eckstein, Managing Director, International Finance, WWF-US
- John Goldwyn, Senior Associate, WATG
- Dr. Harold Goodwin, Director, International Centre for Responsible Tourism, Leeds Metropolitan University
- Klaus Lengefeld, Coordinator, GTZ

The deadline for submissions will be 31 August 2008, while the awards will be presented at the 19th annual HICAP, which is taking place 15-17 October 2008 at the InterContinental Hong Kong.
Vicky is the co-founder of TravelDailyNews Media Network where she is the Editor-in Chief. She is also responsible for the daily operation and the financial policy. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Tourism Business Administration from the Technical University of Athens and a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Wales.
