Tourism is one of the pillars of the Greek economy. To stave off the economic downturn, the government announced a series of economic stimulus plans, including boosts to the tourism industry. They are now offering special favorable policies to attract Chinese visitors. The new policies will also allow Chinese travellers to get a tourist visa more easily. The Greek government is encouraging all Chinese travellers, but especially newly-married couples, to apply for a tourist visa directly, and venture out across the country on their own.
