Free Wi-Fi for foreign MICE visitors to Taipei

Taipei City Information and Tourism Department launches a free WI FI service for foreign MICE visitors.

TAIPEI- To help drive MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions) industry of Taipei City, Department of Information and Tourism (TPEDOIT) announced that Taipei Free public Wi-Fi access service will be available for foreigners attending MICE events in Taiwan starting June.

According to TPEDOIT, the aforementioned business people will be able to enjoy free Internet service at some of the city’s public spaces including main roads, commercial districts, and a number of indoor places. They will no longer need to apply for Wi-Fi service via visitor information centers, but simply use the account provided by their local agents to get online with unlimited access.

Information and Tourism Commissioner Chao Hsin-Pin noted that the agency hopes to offer foreigners a convenient and friendly environment where they are able to share information online and connect to the world by integrating the TPE-Free platform established by Department of Information Technology.

While encouraging travel agencies to apply for the service for their foreign guests, TPEDOIT meanwhile emphasizes that only foreign individuals attending MICE events which reach a certain scale are qualified for the convenient service.
