Eva Air increases its presence in Japan

With new flights to Niigata in January, Taiwanese carrier Eva Air will serve nine destinations in Japan.

TAIPEI- EVA Air is launching flights to Niigata, a new destination in Japan. The airline will operate regularly scheduled Taipei – Niigata flights on Wednesday and Saturday, starting on January 12, 2013. Niigata is as a convenient alternative to Tokyo for travel to Japan’s Kanto, Koshinetsu and Hokuriku regions. Travelers can enrich their travel experiences by flying to these areas via Niigata and returning from Tokyo or vice versa.

Niigata is located on the Sea of Japan coast in the central part of Honshu, Japan’s main island. The area is not only rich in natural resources and agriculture but also well-known for its ski resorts. EVA began operating Taipei – Niigata charter flights in 1995. The charter flights proved to be popular among Taiwanese tourists traveling to Japan for Niigata’s snow-covered landscape and hot springs. The region’s popularity has grown steadily and the market has demonstrated potential for further development. EVA BR162 will depart Taipei at 10:50 am and arrive in Niigata at 15:00 (3:00 pm) local time. Return flight BR161 leaves Niigata at 16:30 (4:30 pm) and gets back to Taipei at 19:35 (7:35 pm). Passengers can book flights now.

Embracing market growth spurred by the open sky policy between Taiwan and Japan, EVA launched a new Taipei – Hakodate route on October 28, 2012 and increased Taipei – Komatsu flights to daily service on December 8. With the start of Taipei – Niigata operations, EVA’s extensive network will expand to nine destinations in Japan, including Tokyo Narita, Tokyo Haneda, Osaka, Fukuoka, Sendai and Sapporo in addition to Hakodate, Komatsu and Niigata. EVA’s routing within Asia is among the best in the airline industry. From gateways in Europe, Oceania and North America, passengers can make one stop in Taipei and easily connect onward to most major business and leisure destinations throughout Asia, including Japan and China.

Meanwhile, Eva Air also announced to offer more flights to Europe, adding a fourth weekly frequency to Paris, starting from May 2013.
