Dusit International nominated for 2014 TTG Travel Award

The 2014 TTG Travel Awards will be announced in a ceremony at the Lyceum Theatre in London’s West End on 15 September 2014, with a celebration to follow at the Savoy hotel.

BANGKOK – After a trying year for the Thai hospitality industry, Dusit International is proud to announce it has been shortlisted for a prestigious 2014 TTG Travel Award in the category of Hotel & Resort Operator of the Year.

Though the political events of recent months have affected the company’s Thai hotels, the current stability of the situation in Thailand has seen them steadily recovering, according to Dusit’s Vice President of Operations, Mr Jiri Kobos.

The political crisis, especially as the rallies were taking place on the doorstep of our central Bangkok hotel and headquarters, lead us to take proactive measures that are now accelerating our pace of recovery,” says Mr Kobos. “We are looking forward with optimism and it is encouraging that these positive efforts are recognised by our industry peers at TTG.

The company will open three new hotels by year’s end in three new markets: a dusitD2 hotel in Pasadena, California, USA; a dusitD2 hotel in Nairobi, Kenya and a Dusit Thani hotel in Guam, USA, slated to be the most luxurious hotel to open on the island in well over a decade. Expansion announcements to date include 7 new projects in China, one in Tunisia and a further project in the UAE to be announced in the coming weeks.

Fellow nominees for the Hotel & Resort Operator of the Year category include: Amari Hotels & Resorts, Atmosphere Kanifushi Maldives, Club MedElite Island Resorts, Sandals Resorts International and Warner Leisure Hotels.

The 2014 TTG Travel Awards – widely respected as some of the toughest to win in travel, thanks to its unique combination of agent voting and judging panels – will be announced in a ceremony at the Lyceum Theatre in London’s West End on 15 September 2014, with a celebration to follow at the Savoy hotel.
