China Travel Service Hong Kong is the sole agency granted by the China Olympic Committee to sell over 3000 Athens Olympic Games Tickets in China, said the agency`s head of outbound department, Mr Guo Ming.
The 2004 Olympic Games in Athens is a notable event to the travel industry in China. The Sport Communication Center of China`s General Administration of Sport has set up an unprecedented reception center for the 2004 Olympic Games. It has entrusted local travel agents to market the Olympic Games in Athens to gain the experience needed for the upcoming 2008 Olympic Games in China. This year, China will hold the Formula One and NBA.
Sports travel is a niche market in China`s travel industry. The lifting of travel visa bans has made it possible for Chinese people to travel abroad and watch sporting games. Mr Guo said he is looking forward to a good sales result and is planning to incorporate sports travel to the incentives` market for China-based companies.
