China Airlines and its subsidiary Mandarin Airlines will work together to launch Lunar New Year charter flights directly to mainland China, from February 13 to 25. A total of 16 round trip flights to Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou have been arranged, including eight charters on the Taipei-Shanghai-Taipei route, two on the Taipei-Beijing-Taipei route, four on the Taipei-Guangzhou-Taipei route, and two on the premier route Kaohsiung-Shanghai-Kaohsiung.

Passengers on China Airlines and Mandarin Airlines can use their tickets interchangeably on both airlines, and can combine scheduled flights with the charter flights according to the company.

Boeing 747-400 and Airbus A330-300 aircraft will be used for the charters. On February 13, Mandarin Airlines will begin the flights by launching AE 871 to Shanghai using a Boeing 747-400.
