Sarawak Convention Bureau host an evening with international corporate buyers in Shanghai to showcase Sarawak’s available products and services that highlight the State as a prominent Business Events destination.
KUCHING – Sarawak Convention Bureau (SCB) was recently in Shanghai to meet with MATRADE and the Malaysian Consulate. The Bureau alsohosted a networking evening at The Hongta Hotel in Pudong District to meet with buyers from international corporate organisations. With over 30 buyers in attendance, SCB gave a presentation on promoting Sarawak as an incentive destination in partnership with EBT Jade Trip Business Center.
The SCB delegation included YBhg Datuk Abang, Haji Abdul Karim Tun, Abang Haji Openg (Board of Director Member), Mike Cannon (Managing Director), Chew Chang Guan (General Manager), Amelia Roziman (Global Marketing & Communications Director), Donny Tan (Business Development Manager), Jason Tan (Business Development Manager) and Serena Ong (Admin Executive).
SCB Managing Director, Mike Cannon commented, “We received increasing interest from China based on our previous trips and the opportunity to bring a team over to present and showcase Sarawak has been most successful. We hope to keep this going and bring on board Sarawak industry partners to assist us for future missions.”
This networking evening was organised to coincide with the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) Annual Congress that was held in Shanghai from 2nd to 6th November 2013. During the Congress, General Manager, Chew Chang Guan and Global Marketing & Communications Director, Amelia Roziman were among the presenters at the Congress Education Sessions; sharing their creativity with industry peers in “ICCA’s got talent: unlocking the creativity amongst your staff and partners” and “’Laugh? I nearly cried!’ – using humour to win business”.
SCB General Manager, Chew Chang Guan commented, “Response from both sessions were well received and allowed the team to showcase our approach to work and how humour and creativity can ensure a successful bid or business result.”
Sarawak had recently won the rights to host the ICCA Annual Congress in 2016 that was announced during the IMEX Frankfurt trade show in May.
