Ascott expands into Shenyang

CapitaLand’s wholly-owned serviced residence business unit, The Ascott Limited, has opened two new serviced residence properties in Shenzhen and Shenyang in China recently. The 199-unit Ascott Maillen Shenzhen is the first Ascott-branded property in Shenzhen while the 270-unit Somerset Heping Shenyang is Ascott’s first property in Shenyang. The new properties reinforce the company’s leadership position as the largest international serviced residence owner-operator in China with over 6,400 apartment units in 35 properties across 15 cities.

Mr Lee Chee Koon, Ascott’s Managing Director for North Asia, said, “We see tremendous potential in bringing our premium Ascott brand to Shenzhen. The city continues to attract business and leisure travellers with its vibrant economy, modern cityscape and close proximity to Hong Kong. Many large corporations have established their headquarters in Shenzhen and major international trade exhibitions and summits are held in the city throughout the year. Similarly, many companies have set up offices in Shenyang due to its developed infrastructure and skilled workforce. Our new properties will be able to tap the strong demand for quality accommodation in the two cities. Expanding into Shenyang will also enable us to establish our foothold in North China as we continue to extend our presence in the country.”

Ascott Maillen Shenzhen
Strategically located in the heart of Shekou’s commercial and cultural district, Ascott Maillen Shenzhen is near Sea World, which is Shenzhen’s renowned entertainment and leisure belt. It is also surrounded by major commercial developments such as New Times Square and Finance Centre, restaurants, shopping malls and international schools. With the Shekou Ferry Terminal, Hong Kong-Shenzhen Western Corridor and Sea World Subway Station located near the property, residents can enjoy convenient access to Hong Kong and various destinations in Shenzhen. The serviced residence is thus ideal for expatriates, business travellers and holidaymakers.

Ascott Maillen Shenzhen is part of an integrated development comprising the exclusive Maillen Club with restaurants and recreational facilities. The property offers apartments with private balconies ranging from studios to penthouses and facilities including a meeting room, fully-equipped gymnasium and an indoor heated swimming pool.

Besides Ascott Maillen Shenzhen, travellers to Shenzhen can also choose to stay at Somerset Garden City Shenzhen. Ascott’s third property in the city, Somerset Grandview Shenzhen, is slated to open in 2013.

Somerset Heping Shenyang
Somerset Heping Shenyang has a prime location in Shenyang’s main commercial and shopping district with an array of dining, retail and entertainment options. It is near well-known attractions such as the Shenyang Imperial Palace and Beiling Park where visitors can discover the city’s rich history and culture. The property is also a short walk from the Shenyang Metro Station and Shenyang Railway Station, a 15-minute drive to Shenyang North Railway Station and is about a 30-minute drive to the Shenyang Taoxian International Airport.

Business and leisure travellers can choose from one- to three-bedroom apartments to suit their lifestyle needs. They can enjoy facilities such as a meeting room, fully-equipped gymnasium, games room and an aerobics room. The property also provides an indoor playroom to cater to residents with children.
