ARINC delivers new check-in systems for Singapore Changi Airport

ARINC Incorporated announced it has completed a major installation of its advanced common-use passenger check-in and baggage message distribution technologies for Singapore Changi Airport. The massive IT project at Singapore Changi Airport includes some 500 new common-use check-in and boarding gate workstations covering all three main terminals, including the huge new Terminal 3 which recently opened. ARINC replaced all the common-use check-in and boarding equipment at Terminals 1 and 2 with the latest technology for enhanced operational efficiency and improved passenger handling.

The installation includes ARINC’s industry-leading iMUSETM common-use check-in system and BagLinkTM baggage message distribution technology. ARINC’s Asia Pacific Division completed the work in just six months with a successful cutover in March.

“The speed with which we completed this large-scale project demonstrates ARINC’s commitment to service excellence in the region,” stated Randy Pizzi, ARINC Vice President & Managing Director, Asia/Pacific. “I’m also pleased to say the transition was a complete success, thanks to the close partnerships we enjoy with our airport customers, airlines and ground handling companies.”

ARINC’s Multi-User System Environment (MUSE) technology allows airlines to share check-in desks and departure gates by using common workstations. This maximizes airport operational efficiency and lowers overall costs. With ARINC’s iMUSE solution, airlines enjoy browser-based support for both IP and legacy type host systems, and airline staff can make use of either desktop workstations or handheld terminals.

ARINC BagLink is an intelligent message distribution system that collects baggage-routing messages from multiple airline hosts and distributes them to sortation and other airport systems, enabling proper direction of bags to aircraft without delay.
