Amadeus, has signed an agreement for the distribution of Singapore based Jetstar Asia’s flight and fare information to travel agencies. Jetstar Asia flights are now available for booking and sales through the Amadeus System.

The agreement makes Amadeus the first global distribution system (GDS) to allow the airline’s flight information and content to be made available to tourism professionals in the Asia Pacific. The decision by Jetstar Asia to adopt an additional distribution channel is in step with a new breed of value-for-money airlines looking to adapt their business models and distinguish their service to travellers. Amadeus distribution technology will help make these carriers more competitive by offering additional sales services and expanding their distribution channels.

With the growth of the Asian aviation sector, we identified distribution technology as a key tool to transforming the way we do business. We chose Amadeus because it will enable us to provide our customers with higher levels of service, increase our revenues and yield, as well as implement new initiatives and reach out to customers not previously available to us, thereby securing and supporting our business expansion,” said Ken Ryan, Chief Executive Officer of Jetstar Asia.

Given our expansion, we recognised the need to increase our distribution channels and reach a greater number of passengers, said Mr Ryan.

With this agreement, Amadeus is reinforcing its position in the value for money airline sector. David Brett, President of Amadeus Asia Pacific, said: Amadeus’ commitment to the travel agency community, to ensure the widest range of travel content is made available through our distribution business, is further enhanced by this important deal. Our advanced distribution technology and strong market presence in the region will help airlines such as Jetstar Asia improve customer reach. We are delighted to be working with Jetstar Asia to help maximise the opportunities present in their market and to support their vigorous growth strategy.
