A new Mercure hotel for Japan

Accor announced that the Mercure Sapporo will open on June 1, 2009. The hotel is the perfect base for leisure and business travellers alike, being flanked by the entertainment and night life area of Susukino and is minutes walk to the central business district, the famous Sapporo TV Tower landmark and is attached to a shopping mall.

Mercure Sapporo has 285 rooms with Parisian design accents and are fully fitted with flat screen TV, in room safe and provide free high speed Internet access. General Manager – Mercure Hotel Sapporo, Mr Stephane Bryer says “It is our intention deliver a fusion of refined Japanese service etiquette with the hospitality and know how of Mercure. The hotel will serve as a conduit to the city, whether you are a first time or seasoned visitor to Hokkaido, the team will go out of their way to share with you local tips and suggestions, to help you get the most out of this beautiful city.”

Bordeaux, Mercure Sapporo’s restaurant serves French Cuisine with a selection of signature dishes created by the hotel’s head chef Taisuke Hara, using the finest of local produce. As Mercure guests have come to appreciate, the hotel provides the Grand Vins Mercure Wine List, enabling guests to select a wine to suit their tastes and mood of the moment, with wines from all corners of the globe. The hotel also provides 5 meeting rooms providing the city with superior facilities and services for events.

Patrick Basset – Vice President Accor Japan, South Korea, Philippines and Vietnam says that “We are delighted to be opening a second Mercure hotel with Mitsui Fudosan and the third Mercure in Japan. Accor has successfully managed the Mercure Hotel Ginza since 2004. We are honoured to be managing this additional Mercure hotel on behalf of Mitsui Fudosan and look to bringing the success of the Mercure Hotel Ginza to Sapporo.”

Accor operates 50 Mercure hotels throughout the Asia Pacific and 758 Mercure hotels throughout the world. The Mercure hotel brand is experiencing significant expansion during 2009 throughout Asia Pacific. In addition to the Mercure Sapporo, 10 additional Mercure hotels will open in the region including Bangalore – India, Chengdu (2) – China, Pontianak – Indonesia, Samui – Thailand and Hanoi and Hue – Vietnam, Caroline Springs, Liverpool and Yarra Valley in Australia.
