A new and exciting destination on Sri Lanka’s east coast – The Beach House at Pasikudah Sri Lanka

Part of The Beach House Collection, a group of privately managed chic retreats in the Indian Ocean, The Beach House at Pasikudah Sri Lanka will raise the bar of service and indulgence as the warm invitation of Sri Lankan hospitality meets world-class standards of discreet luxury.

In the first quarter of next year with a provisional date of February 2013, The Beach House at Pasikudah Sri Lanka will be one of the first boutique five-star resorts to open in the newly developed area of Pasikudah Bay on the Eastern Province of Sri Lanka.

The resort is accessible via a scenic 60-minute seaplane transfer from Colombo or a five-hour drive through breathtaking scenery. It comprises 32 beautifully designed suites, some with plunge pools, and two beach pavilions, which are ideal for families with interconnecting bedrooms and aprivate swimming pool. Each has floor to ceiling doors with stunning beach and sea views beyond and a personal host to attend to every need.

Part of The Beach House Collection, a group of privately managed chic retreats in the Indian Ocean, the resort will raise the bar of service and indulgence as the warm invitation of Sri Lankan hospitality meets world-class standards of discreet luxury.

Facilities will include a 30-metre infinity pool with fibre-optic lighting at night, a spa, gym, PADI five-star Sun Diving School, watersports centre, library, internet cafe, floodlit tennis and badminton courts and a kids’ club with its own shaded pool. The resort also has a deep sea fishing boat for sunset trips and excursions.

A fine dining restaurant Pasikudah boasts modern and global fare featuring the finest produce fused with spices and flavours from Sri Lanka. It is complemented by a glass-enclosed wine cellar, which offers an intimate setting for speciality dining and wine tastings.

With its boutique size, The Beach House at Pasikudah Sri Lanka will also be popular for weddings and honeymoons.

Pasikudah in the Eastern Province of Sri Lanka was once a popular tourism destination but in 1983, due to the civil war, the area became off-limits. Now, almost 30 years later with the civil war well and truly over and the completion of Tsunami rehabilitation projects, this small coastal resort is gearing up to receive an influx of visitors.

With one of the longest stretches of shallow coastline in the world, Pasikudah Bay is ideal for swimming and water sports especially as the current is relatively weak compared to the rest of Sri Lanka’s coasts. Vibrant coral reefs teeming with tropical fish make it ideal for snorkelling, while divers can explore some of the most virgin and exquisite dive sites and marine life within the unchartered waters of the East Coast. A dive highlight includes the sunken HMS Hermes, a WWII casualty, which has put this area of Sri Lanka on the map as one of the world’s greatest wreck dives.

In addition to exploring the local towns, this area is ideal for day trips to the ancient ruins of Polonnaruwa, UNESCO heritage site of Sigiriya and a safari in Minneriya National Park and Habarana.
