A community-based tourism promotion website for Vietnam

Vietnam recently put online a new website promoting community based tourism among growing interest from travellers.

HANOI- Last January , VNAT organized a working session under the chair of Deputy General Director Hoang Thi Diep, for review and acceptance of the mission “Developing a website to promote community-based tourism of Viet Nam”.

The mission has been implemented by Tourism Information Technology Center (TITC) in the framework of the project “Support the development and implementation of Viet Nam Tourism Development Strategy in 2011-2020, vision to 2030, with focus on socially responsible policies” funded by Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID).

Community-based tourism proves itself being capable of bringing local community many benefits. In the era of information technology with billions of internet users searching online travel information daily, it is very useful and necessary to develop a website to promote community-based tourism.

The website is developed in Vietnamese and English at www.dulichcongdong-vn.vn, including information and knowledge about community-based tourism particulary in 8 northern mountainous provinces (Ha Giang, Lao Cai, Dien Bien, Son La, Lai Chau, Yen Bai, Phu Tho, Hoa Binh).

The website aims to raise awareness of role and benefit of community-based tourism in responsible tourism development, contributing to encourage domestic and international visitors to join community-based tourism and bring social-economic benefit to local community.
