The tourist flow from Russia to Thailand increased almost in two times during the period from January to August of 2010 and amounted to 347 thousand people, informs the Ministry of Tourism and Sport of Thailand. So, the number of the Russian visitors during 8 months of 2010 surpassed the data of 12 months of 2009, 2008 and 2007.
According to Federal State Statistics Service, Thailand showed the best dynamics of growth in outbound market of Russia and was included in TOP 5 favourite destinations for the Russians (source: ATOR).
According to the results of 8 months of 2010, Russia took the 12th place in the rating of the major tourist suppliers for Thailand with the share of 3.5% (1.5% in 2009).
Bangkok International airport Suvarnabhumi noted a 76% increase in passenger traffic from Russia. Almost 252 thousand Russians arrived at Suvarnabhumi during the period from January to August (+109 thousand people in comparison with the same period of 2009).
According to Federal State Statistics Service Thailand showed the maximal growth during the first six months of 2010 in comparison with the same period of 2009 (+118%). The maximum number of the Russian visitors to Thailand during one calendar month was noted in January (83 thousand people).
More than 70.5% of the Russians arrived in Thailand via Bangkok Suvarnabhumi airport.
The total inbound tourist flow of the foreigners to Thailand increased by 9% in August, in comparison with the same period of 2009, amounting to 1 252 000 people. In August, almost 67% of the foreigners arrived in Thailand to Suvarnabhumi airport.
