Nurturing talents and providing opportunities for students to achieve their dreams.

HONG KONG – Dream Cruises its support the 10th Anniversary of the Hong Kong Labour and Welfare Bureau’s Child Development Fund’s (CDF) in 2018. To commemorate this special occasion, Dream Cruises has launched the ‘Dream Cruises Signature Programme’, inviting 83 students under the CDF project, together with their family members, to cruise on Dream Cruises’ newest ship, World Dream. To kick-off this initiative, a “Dream Cruises Sets Sail Ceremony” was held on 15 April at the Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, officiated by the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Honourable Mrs Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, GBM, GBS.

“Hong Kong is the year-round home to World Dream, our newest member of the Dream Cruises fleet. We are honoured to be given the opportunity be part of this CDF initiative and together we hope to raise the awareness among Hong Kong residents that cruising is a great vacation for families and friends, offering remarkable value. Most importantly, we are delighted to provide new experiences for these students that will broaden their horizons, expose them to the exiting world of cruise tourism and inspire them to realise their full potential in anything they do,” said Mr. Thatcher Brown, President of Dream Cruises. “With our long-standing heritage in the region and as part of the Genting Hong Kong family, Dream Cruises remains committed in giving back to the community through our Corporate and Social Responsibility initiatives here in Hong Kong and across the region,” added Mr Brown.

Cruising is a growing and popular choice vacation for families to bond and build memories together. However for many underprivileged families, a holiday vacation is but a distant dream away. With the launch of the ‘Dream Cruises Signature Programme’, Dream Cruises is turning dreams into reality, providing new opportunities for students under the CDF project, together with their families to enjoy and experience a cruise vacation on board World Dream. With this cruising experience, Dream Cruises also wants to enrich the students’ overall experience with a series on board programs that is both informative and beneficial, including an educational ship tour, a career talk to introduce various jobs aboard a cruise ship, which will help students better understand the industry and perhaps even spark an interest to be part of the cruise industry someday.

It is the first-ever cruise for Tsang King-lun, one of the participants of the Dream Cruises Signature Programme. King-lun is a student of Hong Kong Sea School and his dream is to become a ship captain. King-lun has always been fond of the sea and water sports. Last year, King-lun was lost and had doubts on his dream, luckily he overcame his problems and decided to retake form 4 when volunteer mentors from the Child Development Fund encouraged him. King-lun was thrilled when he learnt that he has a chance to meet the ship captain of World Dream in today’s event. He hope that he will be more confident to pursue his career as a ship captain after hearing Captain’s personal experience and gain a deeper understanding of the industry.

Students also had the chance to enjoy a wide array of activities and outdoor recreational facilities on World Dream, such as the rope course and rock climbing wall, mini-golf course and so much more. World Dream also opened the ESC Experience Lab for invited students to have fun and to try-out first-hand the state-of-the-art Virtual Reality (VR) experience with the latest simulators in immersive gaming. In addition, the 18-deck World Dream also offers theatrical performance and fireworks-laser show on its cruises for the enjoyment of families and young travellers.
