Welcome to Yorkshire hands regional PR remit to Impact Asia

Welcome to Yorkshire, the official tourism agency for Yorkshire and the Humber region in Northern England, has appointed independent PR agency, Impact Asia, to manage its Public Relations programme in Hong Kong, Asia and China to introduce the unique travel experience offered by the largest county in the UK.

Welcome to Yorkshire is supported by Yorkshire Forward, the Regional Development Agency charged with improving the Yorkshire and Humber economy. It aims to generate sustainable business for the region’s tourism industry (currently worth £6.3bn annually).

The romantic county of Yorkshire, referred to by those lucky enough to live there as “God’s Own Country”, is a region of extreme contrasts, with its dramatic land and seascapes, National Parks, beautiful castles, grand country houses and fine food created from the freshest produce. In other words, it offers something for everybody. Its rich 2,000 year history gives it a distinct personality that is unlike any other destination in Great Britain.

Located roughly mid way between London and Scotland, Yorkshire is easily accessible from national and international locations, has three international airports, road and rails links countrywide and ferry ports, making it the ideal choice for overseas and domestic tourists alike who wish to experience all it has to offer.

Commenting on Impact’s appointment, Susan Field, CEO of Impact Asia said: “Being a Yorkshire lass myself, I am thrilled to be involved in promoting my beautiful native county. With the increasing number of Chinese students studying in Yorkshire, it is predicted to see more travellers taking a few days staying in Yorkshire during their travel to UK.”

Impact Asia handles PR and events for a number of top tier clients in the travel, tourism, luxury goods and property markets throughout Asia. Its travel hospitality portfolio includes a number of big names including Mandarin Oriental, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, W Hotel Hong Kong, Sofitel Luxury Hotels and Value Retail (ChicOutletShopping).
