Tourism Queensland partners with Aussie golf pro Adam Scott

Tourism Queensland, home of the Great Barrier Reef, is pleased to announce its partnership with Australian golfer Adam Scott for the “Tee It Up With Adam Scott in Queensland, Australia” promotion which launches today. The contest awards one lucky winner a private golf lesson with Scott and the opportunity to play on his team during the Pro Am PGA Australia tournament this December.

The winner and a guest will receive a 13-day vacation including 5 nights in Cairns and Great Barrier Reef and the chance to visit some of the destination’s award winning golf courses thanks to Springboard Vacations, prior to playing in the ProAm and watching the PGA Australia courtesy of Tourism Queensland. This amazing prize is a money-can’t-buy experience, with airfare and accommodations valued at over $10,000. Players with registered handicaps can enter to win the contest at golfwithAdamScott.com.

“Partnering with Adam Scott was a win-win situation for both of us,” states Shana Pereira, regional director for Tourism Queensland. “Adam is a Queensland native and this is the perfect time for him to combine two of his biggest passions -golf and his awe-inspiring home- into one incredible experience. This is also a unique opportunity for amateur golfers in America to not only play in the Pro Am with professionals in Queensland, Australia – but also to experience The Great Barrier Reef, the Natural Wonder of the World.”

On the launch of his partnership with Tourism Queensland, Adam Scott says: “As a professional golfer I get the opportunity to play great courses all over the world so I am thrilled to be able to promote my home country throughout my travels. Australia has so many great areas to visit and I was very lucky to grow up in Queensland near one of the Natural Wonders of the World, The Great Barrier Reef. It’s an amazing place and I’m looking forward to sharing my home country with the winners!”

Adam Scott turned professional in 2000. At thirty years of age and having been ranked as high as number 3 in the world, Adam Scott has positioned himself as a future legend of the sport. Competing on the world’s most demanding golf tours Adam’s on-course consistency and off-course demeanor sets him apart from the rest. Adam has won 8 US PGA Tour events and won 9 international events in Europe, Asia, Australia and the Middle East and has been a member of 4 President Cup Teams – 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2009. One of the highlights of Adam’s career was winning the 2009 Australian Open and looks forward to defending his title at The Lakes Golf Club in December.

Known as Australia’s Sunshine State, Queensland is home to the Great Barrier Reef, the natural wonder of the world and the only living organism that can be seen from space. A World Heritage site, the reef spans more than 1200 miles and is home to over 3,000 individual reefs, coral islands and marine life with more than 1,500 species of fish. The Great Barrier Reef offers some of the world’s best activities including diving, snorkeling, kayaking and golf and can also be experienced by those not wanting to get wet – aerial views and semi-submersible vessels are a popular option.
