Virgin Australia launches Spin Class – the world’s first in-flight cycling studio

Guests are able to select Spin Class at the time of booking their long haul international flight, and can also select their preferred Spin Class and time as an optional extra, free of charge.

Virgin Australia launched Spin Class, the World’s first in-flight cycling studio, allowing passengers to stretch their legs and exercise on board during long haul international flights. The revolutionary new cabin class has been developed in partnership with Virgin Active and features spin classes designed specifically for cycling in the air.

Virgin Active Cycle Head Coach, Emma Masters said: “Our team at Virgin Active are used to running Spin Classes at ground level, but we’re thrilled to have partnered with Virgin Australia, and over the past year we have been busy designing the ultimate spin class in the sky.

Each Spin Class has been designed to achieve optimal in-flight heart rate and maximum calorie after-burn in the case of the Jetlag Buster and Spin & Sleep classes. For those looking to relax, the Cruise in the Clouds options provides a more laidback workout.”

Guests are able to select Spin Class at the time of booking their long haul international flight, and can also select their preferred Spin Class and time as an optional extra, free of charge.

Spin Class guests will receive specially designed Virgin Australia active wear and cycling cleats. Once each class is in session, guests can earn Velocity Points for every kilometre they cycle, as well as carbon offsetting their flights along the way. Exclusive in-flight change rooms are available to ensure Spin Class guests can feel refreshed and revitalised for the rest of their flight.

Virgin Australia General Manager Customer Experience and Product, Tash Tobias said, “Guests have told us that they want to get their hearts racing and be able to stretch their legs on our flights, and we know not everyone likes to sit still for over 7 hours, so we’re bringing Spin Classes to them.

We are also providing our guests with a healthy, post workout treat that is not only good for hydration and jetlag but also tastes great!”

Bookings for Virgin Australia Spin Classes are open from today on board Virgin Australia flights between Australia and Los Angeles and Australia and Hong Kong.
