Sofitel Luxury Hotels has announced the opening of its first establishment in India, the Sofitel Mumbai BKC, which is located in the city’s business district, the Bandra Kurla Complex.

The Sofitel Mumbai BKC is the first Sofitel opened in India and is a shining example of the brand’s expansion strategy, which involves being present in strategic towns and cities in keeping with its new positioning policy.  “I am particularly happy to be welcoming this new flagship hotel to our network. The Sofitel Mumbai BKC is a precious asset for the brand both in India and internationally. In addition to its strategic location in the new Mumbai, its architecture and design have ensured that this establishment stands out as one of the city’s most modern projects. Two other projects will shortly be completed, including a Sofitel So” explains Robert Gaymer-Jones, CEO of Sofitel Monde.

Featuring a contemporary architectural style, the hotel blends in perfectly with the urban landscape. The decor has been created by the Franco-Spanish designer Isabelle Miaja who has skilfully combined French inspiration with Indian culture. When designing this unique hotel, she drew upon references from Indian art, including temples, sculptures, and emblematic monuments, while adding an attractive contemporary touch. “Overall, the architecture should enable the Sofitel Mumbai to stand out as a successful combination of Indian culture and French style, and with the project nearing completion we have worked with French and Indian artists in order to give the hotel this unique aspect. The most striking feature is a metal elephant weighing several tonnes situated on the terrace of the Jyran restaurant and which ‘walks on water creating a memorable image” explains the architect Isabelle Miaja.

Among the six bars and restaurants, we should mention the “Pondichery Cafe”, specialising in combinations of Indian and French flavours and the “Jyran”, a restaurant featuring a classical Indian decor and proposing traditional North Indian cuisine. But also “L’Artisan – Epicerie, Patisserie, Chocolaterie”, the perfect place to enjoy chocolate, cooked meats and cheeses just as you would in a typical Parisian cafe. For its part, the ultramodern Bar Diamantaire, gives pride of place to India’s diamond traders. This bar, which features a magnificent design and India’s first wine tower is the perfect place to meet up, whether for business or among friends.

The Sofitel Mumbai BKC also has nine rooms for your meetings and other events, in addition to a So SPA, a genuine shrine to health and well-being.

Finally, the establishment also boasts a So FIT fitness centre providing clients with state-of-the-art designer fitness and health facilities and an open-air swimming pool.
